One of the emails they harvested was the email address used to upload pictures and info to facebook.   Example is savvysteve@m.facebook.com  

So I began to dig around to find out how in the world to reset/change it or disable it.  It seemed like an easy thing but searches to fix this problem didn’t yield any good info.  So in an effort to help out the internet/facebook community I am posting this.  Now this info is subject to change.  You guys know how often Facebook dorks around with the interface and the website.  So this info my only be good for a month. 

Instructions.

1. Go to http://www.facebook.com/mobile/  It should look like the screenshot below.

2. Click on the Find out more link

3. At the bottom on this pop-up window you will see under Tips a link to “refresh your upload email”.  Simply click on that link and that address will change.

4. DONE!  Now wasn’t that easy?  Hard to find yet easy to do.

“Never write your password down.”   I feel that you should never write it down on something you carry in your wallet or purse EVER!!!  Realistically it is very hard even for someone like me to keep up with everything.   I mean I probably have passwords for 50 websites some of which are not that important and others are very important and I want them to be secure.  Do all of those logins use the same username?  Trying to remember all the different username and password combinations I have is hard.  Any of you use online banking?   Protect your passwords like your social security number.  Even that is on your SS card right?

My advice is to keep track of your passwords in a small notpad or small spiral notebook you buy for $1 at Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, Walgreens, etc…   You can keep up with the website address, username and passwords.   This “little black book” of passwords NEVER NEVER EVER leaves your home.  Leave it on your computer desk or even a fire safe.   If you are worried someone might steal that book then that goes into home security which is outside the scope of this post.  Those that know me know the answer for that problem.

Another suggestion.  Use a password scheme.  Find a sentence or phrase that you can remember.  Just like the information below, change the letters to numbers and you will have a strong password.  @ for A’s, 3 for E’s, Zeroes for 0’s, $ for S’s.  Make it hard.  8 characters or more if at all possible.  Some sites won’t let you use something this hard…  I say dumb it down but keep the same scheme or base password.

Tips for creating a secure password:

• Include punctuation marks and/or numbers.
• Mix capital and lowercase letters.
• Include similar looking substitutions, such as the number zero for the letter ‘O’ or ‘$’ for the letter ‘S’.
• Create a unique acronym.
• Include phonetic replacements, such as ‘Luv 2 Laf’ for ‘Love to Laugh’.

Things to avoid:

• Don’t use a password that is listed as an example of how to pick a good password.
• Don’t use a password that contains personal information (name, birth date, etc.)
• Don’t use words or acronyms that can be found in a dictionary.
• Don’t use keyboard patterns (asdf) or sequential numbers (1234).
• Don’t make your password all numbers, uppercase letters or lowercase letters.
• Don’t use repeating characters (aa11).

Tips for keeping your password secure:

• Never tell your password to anyone (this includes significant others, roommates, parrots, etc.).
• Never write your password down.
• Never send your password by email.
• Periodically test your current password and change it to a new one.

Then I could not get the Array Manager and previous Dell software to uninstall.  I tried lots of things including stopping services and disabling them.  Also deleted the folders.  But wait the DLLs are in use and I could not get them to unregister manually.  So I was stuck.  I could get the old version uninstalled and I couldn’t get the new version to install because of the previous version.   Catch 22 huh?

Look under the folder that was created when you unzipped the software.  You will see a sub folder called OMClean.  You then will see an OMClean.exe.  Run this and this process will remove all the left behind Dell software junk.  Reboot the server. 

Now you can install Open Manage.

Well there are two problems.  First is that you think the right answer is yes… but they are sneaky and you must say NO.  Secondly with me is that I am using GMAIL for my email.  I have forced it into using a secure connection (HTTPS://).  Generally all of the images in HTML emails are linked to “non-secure” (HTTP://)  sites.  So for the brower that is a problem.  Yes a possible security risk.  So this is why IE8 is complaining.  Yes someone could see you pulling down bigfatsaleoncomputers.jpg.  Who cares!!!   Generally speaking you don’t care that the images aren’t coming to you securely and honestly I don’t see any reason to be concerned about it.

So…

I finally got sick of the warning message today and did some googling.   Thanks to this post at the HTTPWATCH blog I have fixed my problem.

You can read the whole article… I really only read the first half.  Bottomline here is how to make it go away.

Here is the fix:

1. Going  to Tools->Internet Options->Security
2. Select the ‘Security’ tab
3. Click the ‘Custom Level’ button  (*Under the Internet Zone which is the default) 
4. In the ‘Miscellaneous’ section change “Display mixed content” to Enable

 Remember any changes like this you make will require you to close completely out of the browser and re-open it.  Also known as “restarting the browser”.   I tested this and it works! 

I hope this helps someone else.  It has been driving me crazy and keeping me for seeing my newegg deals daily.

AT&T (T: 25.11, -0.27, -1.06%) announced it is rolling out an update for iPhone 3G and 3GS customers to be able to use Multimedia Messaging Service [MMS] on their handhelds on Sept. 25.

The exclusive U.S. Apple (AAPL: 166.53, 1.35, 0.82%) iPhone carrier said it has been preparing its network for several months to be able to handle what it expects to be record volumes of MMS traffic.

When the latest version of the iPhone’s software first arrived in June, supporting MMS, AT&T said it would enable it on the iPhone later during the summer.

Using MMS, mobile phone users can send photos, video clips, and sound clips over cellular networks, much like they do with SMS text messages.

I tested this with Pandora and Slacker running and playing music and didn’t appear to work like I thought it would.  The phone is still playing the music… I would have thought that sleep would have paused my music via the iPhone functions.  So I suppose it will only work with iPod/iTunes music, no shocker there.  It DOES work with iPod music however those in the Mac world refer to the music you have on your iPhone.
